McDowell was inspired by the beach scene, sketching elements such as palm trees in the wind and a whale's tail, which became the wavy TPU cage and midfoot support in the shoe. Initially developed in collaboration with Foot Locker, it has become a long-lasting cultural staple, especially in Europe and Australia, often referred to as “TN” or “Tuned Air.”
