The New Balance 2002 model was introduced to the market in 2010 as a premium running shoe produced in the USA, succeeding the 2001 model from the 1000 series. The 2002R version is a later lifestyle reinterpretation that combines the original 2002 upper design with a different midsole and outsole set from the 860v2 model, reintroduced around 2020 at a significantly lower price, contributing to its great popularity and numerous collaborations.
