Adidas SL 72 debuted in 1972 as a lightweight running shoe designed for speed and agility. "SL" stands for "Super Light," and the shoe was part of Adidas's response to the running boom of the 70s and the growing demand for lighter athletic footwear. It is also historically known as the first Adidas shoe with the Trefoil logo.
