Nike Air Max 97 was designed by Christian Tresser and released in 1997. It was the first Nike model with a full-length visible Air unit in the midsole. The wavy lines were inspired by waves on water, and the original metallic edition referenced the designer's interest in mountain biking. Over time, this design began to be associated with Japanese bullet trains and became a streetwear icon of the 90s.
