The inspiration for its creation was the human body, where the layered side panels resemble muscle fibers, and the midsole symbolizes the spine. It was the first Nike model with a visible Air unit in the forefoot and a black midsole. It quickly became an icon in 90s running and hip-hop and streetwear culture.
