Adidas Gazelle first appeared on the market in 1966 as training shoes. Over time, they were adapted for indoor handball, and the suede upper was the first use of this material by Adidas in footwear. This model evolved from the running shoes Olympiade and gained popularity among streetwear fans thanks to 90s reissues, hip-hop culture in Europe, especially in the UK during the Britpop era, and later celebrity endorsements. Model BB5478 is a faithful reissue of the 1991 version, with slightly wider proportions.
